Should I put blonde highlights in my hair?

I have red hair, and I was wondering if I should get some blonde foils put in it, or any other colour for that matter. I feel like I need a change, but will I regret it?Should I put blonde highlights in my hair?
You should just get a lighter color red, highlights look great on everybody, but I don't know about blonde.Should I put blonde highlights in my hair?
Yes. Go for it, =]

I guess your the only person who can tell wether you think it will look good or not.

But i have a friend, %26amp; she has orange/red hair %26amp; she has blonde tips/highlights in it, %26amp; it looks good.

I guess it depends on what colour your natural hair is , (=

But yeeeeeeeeah, i think it will look good , =D

xo.
Yes - especially strawberry blonde for sure :) According to the website below, this year's hottest fall hair trends for red hair are as follows:

';Season's most popular reds are warm shades that flicker depth and dimension on an intense base and golden highlights. But also shades of red, from burgundy and strawberry blonde to copper brown and auburn will be among the most wanted shades this year.up with tons of sites.';

Most hair salons will offer free consultations. If you know of a friend who has a beautiful do (or if you see a woman when you are shopping etc. who has a nice do, ask her where she gets her hair done - you'd be suprised at how approachable people can be when you compliment them on their appearance), ask her what salon she uses %26amp; book a consultation for advice about what shade would look best.

Best wishes to you for a beautfiul new look.

Cheers from a brunette with blonde highlights,

Kwizip
i would suggest getting lighter red highlights or darker red lowlights (i would go for the darker ones if i were you) depending on how dark/light your red hair is. dark titian reds look awesome.

blonde is an absolute NO NO NO NO NO NO.

red and blonde? no no

red is a very rare, beautiful natural color. keep it as it is and go get yourself a new pair of shoes for a change.

I'm a natural medium blonde and I'm getting light blonde highlights, how much will it damage my hair?

I've never put any hair dye of any kind in my hair before and it is sooo soft and shiny and overall healthy.

This weekend I might put in light blonde highlights with this Frost and Glow kit I bought. I'm just wondering how much my hair will be damaged, if any damage at all. And is this a good idea, should I do it professionaly instead?I'm a natural medium blonde and I'm getting light blonde highlights, how much will it damage my hair?
It will not damage your hair at all providing that your hair is in good condition to start with in the first place. If this is the first time you are dying your hair you are best to get it done professionally just so you can see how to do it and if you like it.I'm a natural medium blonde and I'm getting light blonde highlights, how much will it damage my hair?
well it wont damage your hair that much or at all as long as you get the right die and take care of it properly i would go with the new herbal essences dye line i went from dirty blonde to black to bleach blonde to red and my hair still has no damage so it works pretty well
Dont dont dont.

It will hurt your hair.

My sister had gorgous hair, and i have it too.

She dyed it, colored it, cut it. Its not the same.

Once you do it, you'll have to keep getting it done.

Just a suggestion.
It won't get damaged a lot. Or at least not enough that it would be noticeable. You can do it yourself. It'll turn out fine since your not making a huge change in the color.
Not very damaging but it would be much better to get it done professionally. They will use better conditioning products and less damaging dyes. Plus, they were trained to do this. It's their job.
Get it done by a salon.. sometimes they actually make your hair softer.
bleach is bleach baby..
i was born with highlights and it didnt damage my hair
no. it wont be damaged no worries :] %26amp; i think it will look really good

  • Is it okay to use medium brown FILLER on blonde highlights to dye BLACK?

Natural hair colour : dark brown

Current hair colour : Dark brown/light brown/ blonde highlights

    Desired hair coour : Black

I was told to use a medium brown filler before dying it black, will this work? Or do I need a red filler.

Thanks. Is it okay to use medium brown FILLER on blonde highlights to dye BLACK?
You can just dye it black. Is it okay to use medium brown FILLER on blonde highlights to dye BLACK?
i dont think it will work

I need a shampoo to bring out red and blonde highlights?

I have heard of Shimmer Lights Gold Conditioning Shampoo and wondered if anybody has used this, if it worked or if anybody has any other shampoo/conditioner recommendations....thanks!I need a shampoo to bring out red and blonde highlights?
What you are thinking of needing is a hair coloring... Shampoo is just glorified soap, and if you ever found any soap that actually did what you say it does, I'd seriously reconsider using it, for what it might be doing to your brain... Oh yeah, your brain, which is just under that really thin bone under your hair...I need a shampoo to bring out red and blonde highlights?
A really good shampoo/ conditioner is Pantein! Its reallllly good! It comes in many different types and i think there is one that brings out your highlights! Just look around the drug store or ask a sales lady!
john frieda color glaze after its blonde shampoo + conditioner!
Natural food's stores have alot of products like that. They have like henna shampoos that don't actually dye your hair but can make it look more red, and things like that.

Also, rinsing your hair with beet juice, or hibiscus tea can make it more red, and lemon juice or chamomile tea will make it more blonde, they all work pretty well without actually dying your hair.

Would mousey brown hair with blonde highlights look good?

I want to put highlights in my hair but i dont know howd that look. Can u find me a picture of someone with mousey brown hair with blonde highlights so i can see what it look like?Would mousey brown hair with blonde highlights look good?
i don't personally like that style...but you should do what you want, it's your hair. i think brown hair looks pretty with reddish, lighter brown, and darker brown highlights, but not as light as blonde.

    here's a picture though (:

http://www.short-hair-style.com/images/s鈥?/a>Would mousey brown hair with blonde highlights look good?
I think it would honestly, look somewhat trashy, that is if the highlights are too light.

Blonde in darker brown colored hair tends to look that way.

if you wanted to highlight your hair I would suggest something like a light brown or a brown lighter than your color, which could come out looking really good depending on how well you have it highlighted.

How can i make my blonde highlights fade faster?

my hairs naturally dirty blonde. i tryed highlighting it with an even blondier blonde. it's UGLY. how can i make it fade faster without having to dye it again? How can i make my blonde highlights fade faster?
Wash your hair with very warm water a couple times a day and condition really well. Washing your hair frequently really does make the color fade out faster. Swimming does the trick too...How can i make my blonde highlights fade faster?
i realy need to know too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you've actually lightened your hair, it will have to grow out. Unfortunately it will not fade. One idea is to use a semi-permanent hair color closer to your natural color. This will allow it to blend more naturally and you won't notice the roots as much.
    lots and lots of washing

How can i make my blonde highlights fade?

Okay so last year around december i put blonde highlights in my hair. and i want them to fade but they keep getting brighter. and i have no idea why. cause im always washing and straightening my hair. so i just wanted to know if there was anything i can do to make them fade? How can i make my blonde highlights fade?
Did u bleach it? U can`t fade from that . You have to dye it darker .How can i make my blonde highlights fade?
Are you outside a lot? The sun can bleach them, and make them lighter. If you use any products (I use bedhead, and they make my hair look lighter) in your hair that might also cause them to appear lighter.

I've heard that cheap shampoo or even dish washing soap would work. Although, I've never tried either. I'd imagine if you did that you'd have to condition your hair like crazy!
I've had the same issue for sooo long!

Get shampoo that is made for brown hair. It will darken your hair just a tiny bit for a week or two but it really faded my highlights and then my hair went back to normal.

Another trick you can try is to wash your hair with dish wash soap. My friends mother is a hairstylist and she told me to do that. But, warning, it will make your hair pretty dry for a couple of days so just make sure to use a hydrating shampoo and leave in hydrating conditioners! :)
As stated above highlihgts will only lighten, especially if out in the sun a lot. I'm not sure how much you have so it may not be as easy to get rid of them. It doesn't have to be bleached to be lightened. A high lifting tint can also lighten hair...... It will still keep getting lighter. If you were to put a permanent color all over you'll have more problems with that color fading to a reddish shade and that's another situation you'd have to deal with.

But you could try a semi permanent color. Some say semi but if there's 2 things to mix together it's not. So if you find a true semi color that may grab enough color on the lightened hair to not show up so bright. I would suggest going to a professional to make sure you get the right product and color used. If you don't have too many highlights, a pro might be able to use a permanent color with low 10 volume peroxide (to deposit color) to paint over just the highlights and they would be able to match it up with your natural color without doing it on the whole head. I have actually done that before and it turned out great. But it does depend on how much you have whether I would go with that procedure.

edit....shampooing it with harsh detergents will only lighten it more. It would only make dark tinted hair fade. The only shampoo that might make any difference is one for brown hair, but I don't think there's enough pigment to do it.

Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?

I got my hair done friday at about 1:30. It's Saturday at 3:30. Can i go swimming without it turning green, and should i wet it with a hose and get it wet before i jump in the pool? I haven't washed it yet.Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?
Just after you swim, make sure to wash your hair (use shampoo for colored hair and maybe a deep conditioner or spray in a leave-in conditioner). Chlorine is tough on your hair, but nothing will happen to your highlights unless you continuously swim and don't wash your hair (then they'll turn a green hue). Just make sure to take care of it.Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?
last year i got high lites and swam in my pool to soon and my hair turned green!!!! then i had to keep dying it to cover the green. i recently went to my salon and got my hair dyed my natural color(medium brown) with blond high lites all over. my hairstylist recommended that every time i swim i lather my hair in normal conditioner and then immediately shampoo. i wouldn't recommend swimming for a few days until the color set in so it doesn't turn green.also take care of it so yours doesn't turn green like mine. hope this helps.
Noo! I did that once and about a month later I went into the water and it turned my hair a nasty green. You can put your hair up with a hair clip and try not to get it too wet, but it only turns green if you go under water and everything for a long time.
if you dyed it or permed it then i wouldnt reccomend getting in the pool. because if it is dyed it might fade and if it is permed then i guess it takes it out. but other than that...go for it
yea just use swim shampoo after you swim its not very exspinsive u can get it jusst about anywhere
If pool is properly chlorinated..not TOO MUCH..you are cool..swim your butt off...

I would wash it first..to make sure the color is set...

What is the best shampoo / conditoner for blonde highlights, price range 5-20 dollars?

Can anyone give me an opinion on what the best shampoo is for keeping my blonde highlights vibrant and new, or any kind of leave in product that highlights the blonde in my hair and makes it stand out and shine. What is the best shampoo / conditoner for blonde highlights, price range 5-20 dollars?
dove for lightened hair (the shampoo and conditioner are in light pink bottles)

How to get natural blonde highlights?

I have a darker brow color on the bottom of my hair but a little lighter blonde on the top but i want it a bit blonder. I know about lemon juice but i dont know the exact intructions for it and people say it damages your hair. And Olive oil? please someone give me directions on what to use and how to do it? thank you.How to get natural blonde highlights?
A very natural way to lighten hair is to use lemon juice. It will give you the look of more pronounced natural highlights. Take the juice of one lemon, more for long hair. Mix with 6-8 tablespoons of water. Apply with a spray bottle, squirt bottle or just pour it on gradually and work it through the hair. Let this sit for several hours then shampoo and rinse. Sit in the sun for more dramatic results to naturally light hair.

Apply the lemon juice treatment for several days until you get the desired result.

Use Olive Oil to Moisturize and Naturally Lighten Hair

For a more moisturizing treatment to naturally lighten hair, use olive oil along with the lemon juice. Olive oil has been known to naturally lighten hair. Mix in a tablespoon or two of olive oil into the lemon juice mixture. Work through your hair and allow to sit for 30 minutes to an hour. Shampoo and rinse will. It may take more than one shampoo to get all the oil out.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide to Naturally Lighten Hair

Hydrogen peroxide has been used to naturally lighten hair for forever. Be sure and use either 3% or 6% hydrogen peroxide. They are the most gentle and safe to use to naturally lighten hair with great results. Put some of the peroxide into a spray or squirt bottle and apply evenly and thoroughly to your hair. Allow the hair to dry. Get more dramatic results by going into the sun. Keep doing this treatment daily until you get the desired result.

Always use a deep moisturizer at least once a week to keep your hair healthy and shiney by giving it the moisturization it craves. How to get natural blonde highlights?
Get sun-in. You can buy it at walmart or cvs for maybe 5 bucks or something.

There's a version with lemon juice, and without lemon juice.

It doesn't damage your hair at all!

Just spray the sun in wherever you want it to be more blonde, and hang out in the sun!

If you want to do it indoors though, you can use a hair dryer on the place where you sprayed it, and it'll actually make it blonder too.

It works, I have natural dark brown hair and I sprayed a TON of sun in and my whole head turned blonde :)
You have to get over the idea that natural is good! Lemon juice can lighten hair because it has a bleaching agent. But it is far worse for your hair than bleach because it is a straight acid! So if you want to trash your hair and dry it our severely apply lemon juice to your hair and sit in the sun for 3 hours. If you want to have nice blonde hair that will not snap off bleach your hair and tone it with an ash blonde dye. Lemon juice lifts like bleach, so it will turn orange as it lifts, just like bleach only with more damage.
well something that you can you use is hydrogen peroxide water. its worked really well for me. just put a small amount on the hair that you want to make blonde. you can buy it anywhere.

    hope this helps :)
    Lemon juice!
    lemon juice or sun-in

    :)

How do you get the green tint out of your blonde highlights?

I went swimming today for about 3 hours straight.then everyone said my highlights look green.i took a shower thinking they would go away but there still green looking.how do i get it out?please awnser fast i cant have green hair!!!How do you get the green tint out of your blonde highlights?
Well this sort of problem always happens to me when i go in my cousins pool. Here are some things to get the green out these little tricks will always work.

    * Put ketchup in your hair and leave in for a while when your in the shower (it may stink but it gets the job done)

    * Use clarifying shampoo twice a week or more any salon should sell this

*Or if those little tricks don't help go to your hair stylist and she should be able to help you get the green out

Hope this advice will help you :)How do you get the green tint out of your blonde highlights?
thanks:D i went to a local salon store. and bought some ion clarfiying shapoo i left it in for about 35 min. and it worked.thx. my highlights are blonde again lol. Report Abuse

Well my friends are blond and that always happens to them, usually they just wait for it to go away though. I don't know if there is anything you can do.
the best thing would be to go to a beauty supply store and get a shampoo that is meant for red hair. red is used to contrast green. just use it once or twice, you dont want to over do it
Redo the blonde highlights with a warmer tone of blonde rather than a cooler tone. Or just use an all over dye to coverup the highlights.
You will have to go to the salon and ask them to put a toner in ur hair.

and next time u go swimming wear a cap. jijij
Salons sell shampoo for this type of problem. But if thats not feasible right now. Try using baking soda mixed in with shampoo.
a vinegar rise or a clarifying shampoo. just don't overdo it cause it's drying... get a good conditioner.

How do i get my natural blonde highlights to come out?

My hair gets these really pretty blonde highlights in the summer (a combination of sunlight and chlorine). I'd love to find a NATURAL way to make them more pronounced. thanks! How do i get my natural blonde highlights to come out?
    Hey,

I get great blonde highlights every summer:

So easy, squeeze the juice of a lemon into a small spray bottle of water. Spritz onto hair whenever you will be in the sun. So nice, and natural.

Good luck!!! :-)How do i get my natural blonde highlights to come out?
Lemon juice works. Put it in your hair before you go out in the sun.
spend more time in the sun.
lemon juice does work....also try mayo..it cleans your hair while bringing out the natural beauty...just saturate hair in mayo and wrap with plastic wrap..leave on 20-35 minutes then shampoo and condition as normal :)
I heard putting lemon juice straight from the lemon helps lighten the hair naturally and it supposedly brings out the highlights...

Omg... Yes I know this girl that has short hair and works at the gym I go to and she has the front highlighted and the back is still brown. Also there was this guy who was going to Cuba and did the look you want at my salon. I say go for it. I've done almost every hair color except green and pink lol! I've been dying my hair since I was 12 and I'm almost 21 so imagine. I have experience dealing with many colors lol. This tuesday, I'm taking my washed out platinum blonde hair that's getting brassy with it's black roots and doing honey and caramel lowlights. Look on the bright side if you don't like the highlights you can always dye your hair back brown.
I have my hair like that and I luv it!! I think it would look fine!! Try it and if you dont like it change it. Its that easy :) Good luck!!
Yeah I think that darker hair underneath blond (as long as it's not white blond) has always looked good.

How to get blonde highlights in dark brown hair?

no i dont wanna do it professionally, so dont suggest that -.-i wanna know a good way to do it at home, fast, yuh know. i have dark brown hair, and i want one blonde highlight hahah, just one. not all of it. a small thin strip of blonde. whats the best way to do that without using a highlighting kit or like those special stuff. something cheap you dig?How to get blonde highlights in dark brown hair?
the best way to get a true blonde streak in dark hair is to use bleach. dark brown hair is harder to get to a natural looking blonde 'cause when you use bleach on it, it goes through stages. it will turn red, dark orange, light orange, dark yellow, light yellow and eventually pale yellow. the longer you leave it on, the lighter it will get. you can go to a beauty supply store and get a small bottle of 40 volume peroxide and a packet of powder bleach. 40 volume peroxide is best to get dark hair really light 'cause anything under 40 volume will take a super long time to get light enough and still may turn out too yellow. and yellow hair isn't flattering on anyone. once you get home, pour out a small amount of bleach powder into a cup or something and add a small amount of peroxide. mix it up well. if it has the consistency of cake batter, then it's ready to use. any thicker will be too harsh and any thinner won't be strong enough. then apply the mixture to the hair you want blonde and leave it on for a maximum or 45 minutes. after 45 minutes, bleach looses it's potency. then rinse it out and shampoo and condition the bleached part. be sure to condition it well 'cause it will be more dry now. if it's not blonde enough for you, wait a few days and bleach it again, only not as long. good luck!

How to get blonde highlights myself?

I can't go to a hair salon to get blonde highlights and it is winter and not sunny so i cant put lemon juice in my hair and go out in the sun. Is there any other way to get blonde highlights other than lemon juice and sun, bleaching it, or going to hair salon? I want something i can do myself that wont be too difficult for a teen to do.How to get blonde highlights myself?
Depending on the colour of your hair, depends on whether you have to bleach your hair or not. If you have a lot of red in your hair (your natural hair colour) then it's likely you'll go ginger if you try to do it on your own as you have to lift the red out of the hair which takes a lot and you'd also need heat on it to help it develop better.

My hair has a lot of red in it but my natural colour is light brown; i've dyed my hair a lot of times also but once i put bleach on my hair, it went near enough to ash blonde when having 20mins heat on it but i had a stylist do my hair.

If you have light hair, you could aim to just use a blonde highlighting kit from the shop but if you have dark hair...don't expect it to be coming out as blonde as you'd like it.How to get blonde highlights myself?
go to a grocery store or a drug store and get a do it at home kit for like 16 dollars and follow the directions. make sure the kit matches your hair color and the color you want your highlights to be. then follow the directions and it would come out just as good as if you get it salon done! ^-^ hope i helped! :]
i wouldn't attempt highlights on myself (again EVER) it's a disaster waiting to happen. dn't buy anything outta supermarkets neither go to a proper beauty supply place, use foils and get a mate to do it for you.
Go to sally's beauty supply, buy the dye and put the highlites where you want them and wrap in foil....

Hi there! We are RED 7 SALON (http://www.red7salon.com), a boutique hair salon company with 2 locations in Chicago.

Yes, obviously, the best thing to do would be to find a great salon with an excel reputation and have them take care of it. The good part about this ';at-home'; scenario is that you are going from lighter to darker. Usually, this is somewhat easier, but not always. You may spend a couple hours on your hair only to walk away from the mirror with extreme unevenness and a splotchy job. What to do? Go to a salon then for a COLOR CORRECTION.

So, what will happen if you decide to walk down the path you are on? Well, you would get brown all-over color and the old highlights would still show through and add dimension to the dark brown. It could be beautiful. However, the tone of the highlights is something to consider - it may not compliment the color of the brown and then look just ';OFF';. The other thing to consider is the color of the brown. Is it complimentary to your skin color? If it's not and it's too dark, you could look super washed out and pale - kind scary.

Suggestion - seek professional advice. Go to the best salon in your city and get a free consultation - they will give you the basics and/or any challenges that you are going to be up against. The other thing to think about as well is MAINTENANCE - how long do you want this look to last and how long will this look last looking great.

Good luck to you - cheers!

well consult a stylist.. they will color match u so it wot turn some nasty colour..

I am going to dye my hair dark golden brown 43. The brand is Garnier Nutrisse. I also bought a box of highlighting. It is H2 Golden Blonde and the brand is also Garnier Nutrisse. I'm not sure if it would look right? I have green eyes and my skin tome is pale. Feel free to show pictures too. Thank you!Would dark golden brown hair look good with golden blonde highlights?
dont use garnier. use clairol...it's less harsh on the hair.

also, really be careful with at home highlighting kits, it never ends up how you want it. do a strand test first.

if your hair is dark golden brown, i would go for a dark blond highlight.Would dark golden brown hair look good with golden blonde highlights?
My hair is medium to dark brown and my daughter in law highlighted it with blonde. It looked great! I have hazel eyes also and my skin is pale. However, since you are going to have to dye your hair dark brown to begin with, I do not think it would work. I would conssult with a beautician before you do that. Good luck!
Yes, i have pretty close to that, but mine is natural, but for some reason i use to have just brown hair. But anyway if the hair color is medium brown and the highlight are a little bit lighter that dirty blonde, it will look nice.
i think it would look good... just make sure you blend the colors together well.

  • I moved and my new hairdresser gave me ashe toned highlights instead of golden blonde highlights?

I don't like it at all. Is it possible to change or do I need to wait and let it grow out?I moved and my new hairdresser gave me ashe toned highlights instead of golden blonde highlights?
You shouldn't have walked out of the hairdresser if you didn't like it. You can go back tho.

Girls have so many colours. I never understood all these colours myself.I moved and my new hairdresser gave me ashe toned highlights instead of golden blonde highlights?
Over time it will become more golden-toned as it starts to get brassy. Adding a golden toner may also be a good idea.
Go and get your money back! Get them to tone it to the color you want. Take a picture in.

I have slightly blonde highlighted hair and want to go back dark. Will it work?

Ok, I had a wild hair a couple months ago and added highlights to my dark brown/ black hair. I didnt get a whole lot of them in the back or underneath, but I have more around the face. Well, I want to go back to my dark hair and was wondering if it would go all black or have some lighter pieces?? Would it look ok??I have slightly blonde highlighted hair and want to go back dark. Will it work?
I do this phase every year. I put highlights in during the summer and I cover them over and go back to solid dark brown during winter. It comes out good at first, but the places where the highlights are is where they lighten up faster. The second time you dye your hair again it works so much better. It won't be a huge difference, and you might be the only one to really notice unless you point it out.I have slightly blonde highlighted hair and want to go back dark. Will it work?
Yeah it should look fine even if it does have some highlights, if you really dont want to have any light pieces get it professionally done by a hairdresser and they'll cover it perfectly!
I dyed my highligted hair a dark brown (natural color). It turned out good except over time it fades out and becomes just a darker shade of the blond highlights.
I'd probably have to suggest that you get your hair professionally done. A stylist will fill the highlights with the natural red pigment that everybody has in their hair and then she/he will color after that. That's the only way you are absolutely guaranteed to get the result you want.

If you try doing it yourself with a boxed color, you may end up with highlights that turn a greenish shade, or just any off color.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
It would probably be a slightly different color where the highlights are,

Which is worse doing blonde highlights or coloring you hair blonde?

Would it hurt my hair more if I highlight my hair blonde, or fully color it blonde?Which is worse doing blonde highlights or coloring you hair blonde?
i think that it's better to start out by highlighting that way if blonde isn't really for you then you know and it's not ALL blonde and if you only highlight ur only dying some of your hair instead of all of it Which is worse doing blonde highlights or coloring you hair blonde?
both cause if you hightlighted in a couple of weeks they will get orange and if you color your hair blonde your brain will become slower by the weeks and plus the color looks ugly
I would think it would be worse to dye your whole head cuz its more hair your damaging but thats just a guess
neiter of them hurt at all, ive done both. no big deal

How to get rid of blonde highlights?

I have medium brown hair and I had put blonde highlights in my hair a year ago, they faded, so I decided to put some more back in. Unfortunatly, it turned out horribly wrong in which case I look almost all blonde (and I'm not one of those people who can pull off a blonde look)

Will it ruin my hair if I dye it medium brown the next day? What will happen to my hair? How to get rid of blonde highlights?
No it will not ruin your hair. If you are nervous call a salon. I hi-light my own and do a solid color one day and the other the next. Just make sure you use heavy conditioner, and get some leave in conditioner. How to get rid of blonde highlights?
    No, it won't get ruined.

If your scared of doing it, go to a stylist.

If I use a brazilian brown hair dye will it turn my blonde highlights red?

Just bought a brazilian brown hair dye which is brown, will it turn the blonde in my hair red?

    Thanks

If I use a brazilian brown hair dye will it turn my blonde highlights red?
no, it will turn it brown.

your regular hair will be a different tint than your highlights, but both will still be a shade of brown.

Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?

Theres a pool party today and 2 days ago i got my hair highlighted blonde. Should i get my hair wet or not?Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?
Yeah it should be fine. Try this wet your hair before you get in and put conditioner in your hair. Putting it up in a pony tail is a good idea also. After the pool shampoo your hair with a clarifying shampoo as soon as you can. Just make sure you are using a good conditioner to help dryness. Chlorine can dry it out some. Can i go swimming with blonde highlights?
yea its perfectly fine i got in the water after i got my highlights

mine was like 2 days and 12 hours though but still they dont come out. You can get it wet just if you have natural curly hair and it normally frizzes and you have to straighten it its gonna be frizzy.
If your concerned get a fun swimming hat from the store......Im a swimmer and whey have thenm cheap at the pools.....but if you don't do that i would pick up a good chorine remover shampoo and conditioner for after swimming. Also take a shower and wash swimming suit with vinegar to get rid of the smell....have fun and be safe.
Yes, you can it will be fine. When you take a shower or have any exposure to water you will loose a lil color, but not enough to see or miss. You can go swimming your hair will be fine.
I would not get in the water, if you just got it done 2 days ago.
    yes you can.
No you shouldn't go in the water because your hair will go green and you'll look like a right mef!

  • If I dye my hair black over my blonde highlights will they go weird?

my natural hair colour is really dark brown and about 6 months ago I had bleach blonde highlights put in, but now I really want to dye it black. if I dye all all my hair( including highlights) will the highlights go a funny colour? like orange or grey?If I dye my hair black over my blonde highlights will they go weird?
No, the blonde highlights will take to the colour faster and hold onto it longer then your dark brown. :) Dont worry! Just leave it in long enough

Help my blonde highlights are going coppery?

I have blond ehighlights in my hair, and after 3 weeks they are starting to look a little coppery/warm toned. I still have another 3 weeks before I need them touched up and re done...can anyone reccomend how to get rid of the reddish tones until then?Help my blonde highlights are going coppery?
You would have to use a toner to reduce the brassiness. Choose one with a violet or blue base, they are available at beauty stores like Sally beauty supply.

Ok, I have naturally straight light brown hair. Just a while ago i got blonde highlights put it. I want to know what i should do next. Or should i just stop dying my hair? Or get a different color? Or maybe even keep getting highlights? Or getting them in a different color? I also do not have any bangs. I would also appreciate if you posted hairstyles or haircuts i could get my hair is a little past shoulder length right now about 2-3 inches maybe... Thanks! After my blonde highlights, what hair color should i get?
choose one that will go great with your skin tone. After my blonde highlights, what hair color should i get?
I like expert by loreal (in the red box). with a med blonde tone (i forget the name of it), you will like the bright highlights which come with. I do. then when the conditioner is gone (which comes with it) from the box, you'll know it's time to redo your locks. easy easy.
Just get whatever you think looks best, trust me guys can tell when u think u look good, self confidence in how you look beats how you actually look any day have fun with it color it whichever way you want!

    have fun

    -Andy
Dont dye it again or if you do have dark brown highlights
Chick go see a salon stylist/colourist. its worth it to get some professional advise.

Can I give myself at-home blonde highlights over DYED blonde hair?

I have been getting my done dyed at a salon for quite a while. My roots were growing in a few weeks ago and I didn't feel like spending the money, so I bought an at-home product, which ended up matching my base color perfectly. At every other salon appointment, I get lighter highlights. Any at-home products that would be effective and natural looking? Can I give myself at-home blonde highlights over DYED blonde hair?
DO bear in mind that the shade may differ. You can try, but its best to head down to the salon. Can I give myself at-home blonde highlights over DYED blonde hair?
Color rays is a one step dye. It might not look that natural so I'd do a test strip somewhere in the back of your hair. I used their fuchsia hair dye :P

What product can i use to get profesonal blonde highlights out of my hair?

what will work for really blonde highlights that were profesionaly done?

iv heard of something called ';strip out'; does it work? i want something that will completly remove the highlights for good. What product can i use to get profesonal blonde highlights out of my hair?
If it's blond, They most likely used bleach. There is no possible way to remove bleach, as there isn't any color to fade it, too. You need to recolor over it.What product can i use to get profesonal blonde highlights out of my hair?
strip will make it blonder! I wouldn't go that route
ive gone from black to blonde back to brown or black many times!

to get the blonde out you dont need to strip your hair that will make it lighter? i usually use a box colour form boots or anywhere like that called garnier nutreis it makes your hair really soft not damaged from the colour its permanant aswell so it will completly cover all your blonde and they have a big range of colours so you can choose from light brown or dark brown either will cover it up!
A product that has alway worked for me is Revlon Frost and Glow. It's not very expensive but works well. I always have my mom or sister do it for me.

II want to get highlights this summer but I have no idea what color to get I thought mabye blonde but I was also thinking a light brown.Help plez!I have dark brown hair would my hair look bad with blonde highlights?
Blonde always looks good with brown. But Red does to. I personally like red highlights, but blonde is a for sure looks great.I have dark brown hair would my hair look bad with blonde highlights?
get both...light small foiled highlights alternated with the purple blonde (ur stylist will know what that is(my mom is one)) and a caramel blonde and ask them for just the top and sides lightly highlited...if it's your first time...
    That's a nice combination.

Don't try red, RED is soo used comonly
eww .high light are outt of stlyee girl.

i had them once and DONT ever get the store bought ones, they suckkkkk.

if u want, get them done proffessionally.
that depends, do you have warm or cool tones? Warm tones (usually dark hair'd people) usually look better if they stay in dark blond highlights. If you have cool tones you can probably pull off light blond. Some can pull off mixing the two but be care full. Getting dark hair to turn blond is hard on your hair.
The highlights would look really good.

I have dark brown hair and then got blonde highlights

    and they looked great.

but if you want them to look good make sure u get it professionaly done.

I was stupid and died over my highlights.

but just make sure this is what you want.

Well what I have to say is yes.
light brown or dark or light red is good ! =D

    hope it helped!!!
get light brown or auburn or red highlights but make sure they arent too far away from your natural hair color or else it will be too obvious
your hair would look good with blonde highlights. but what ever you what to do you can!

How to highlight your hair at home with home products!(Brown to Blonde)?

I have dark brown hair! i heard lemon juice but i want something that actually works! How to highlight your hair at home with home products!(Brown to Blonde)?
Make it natural, over the weekend make it a color lighter, then make it lighter then lighter then lighter till finally its how you want it!

What color will my blonde highlights fade to?

I have dark brown/ black hair.

I've gotten my hair dyed at a hair salon.

I told her to make it look natural, so she put

    blonde highlights here and there.

Will the color fade back to dark brown or white?

I really don't want it to turn white D:What color will my blonde highlights fade to?
To make your hair blonde it would have been bleached. Because of this is can only fade lighter. The definition of you're colour will be lost, but it will remain blonde. It may turn a bit brassy over time though, but I doubt this will be an issue if you had the job done professionally (which you did, lucky you!).

I shouldn't turn white if it was only a medium blonde, but if you wanted to fix this cheaply you could get a hair colour that only tints, for example a 8 or 28 washes colour. They stain you'r hair, so it will all look brighter, but will leave you brown brown (and if you colour it a darker blonde) that is the colour your highlights will become. Best of luck!

I got my black hair highlighed with blonde highlights that are too orange?

Is there a toner i can buy in a store to take out the orange and make it look more blonde?I got my black hair highlighed with blonde highlights that are too orange?
I would go to a salon and have them fix it for you however, if you are not willing to do that then yes a violet toner will neutralize the orange (it won't make it lighter but take the edge off the orange into a more natural color) Go to a beauty supply store such as sally's.

Oh better yet - if you are not willing to pay for a salon to do it then go to a cosmetology school - they are super cheap and in the end you will be paying the same amount for all the color you have used.

If you did have a stylist to them in the first place - then go back to the salon.I got my black hair highlighed with blonde highlights that are too orange?
since you added black in your hair you might have to wait for the color to go out first, so that it wont change into another color.
Ooooo! Ur never supposed to get blond highlights with black hair. They jus look orange or fake. U should go for lyk a light red highlight. U should just go back to the place n tell them that u want them to die your hair back
    ok

What is the cheapest way to get blonde highlights?

right now I just died my dark brown hair light brown now it looks kind of orangie but i want to put blonde highlights in it but I don't have to much money. What is the cheapest way to get blonde highlights?
i'm not a hair stylist but i think you have to wait a bit before coloring again. it will burn your hair.////What is the cheapest way to get blonde highlights?
out of a box from WAL-MART
color experte from loreal is a great product and every salon stylist that I go to when I get my hair cut thinks that I get my hair done professionally!
peroxide is the cheapest but it will strip not only the color but all the oil out also so you'll need to condition your hair also . . .I've been coloring my hair at home all my life( I now color some of my girlfriends hair for them cause they say when I do it it looks natural not colored ). . it's not how much you spend it's the time and effort of picking the right color to work with the natural tone of your hair and skin . . . if you don't know what I'm talking about try asking at the beauty supply store sometimes the clerks know more than just how to run the register. My coworker says only ugly women have to spend alot to look good.
lemon juice and a day at the beach...
you get what you pay for,

If you say you don't have alot of money so you go out and but a $12 box of dye and just slap it in your hair yourself that's exactly what you'll get. A Dye job that looks like you paid $12 for it. And since you already messed your hair up and It's now orangie, You should learn your lesson and stop throwing cheap crap in your hair and stop trying to do it yourself.
A long time ago I read lemon juice applied in the hair and lots of sun light was suppose to bleach it.
you can always try to do it yourself with someone helping you
FOr a natural way to do it without hurting ur hair u can use theh John Frida Sheer Blonde Products, it brings out the blonde in ur hair. Available at target, walmart, walgreens, ect.
I would not attempt doing this yourself at home. I have seen a lot of hair color disasters coming from a box of hairdye highlighting cream that you can purchase from Walmart. If you end up buying a box of hair highlighting cream from Walmart and it messes up your hair (which there is a 75% chance it will if you try it yourself) you'll just have to pay to have it done professionally.

I know with the cap that you can get in some boxes, I have seen girls who TRIED it at home come out with their hair discolored, the highlights start WAY down in their hair, and I have also seen the holes leak and they have circle blots all over their hair. Do not buy ANYTHING with a cap. But then again.. it is harder than hell to do your own highlights using aluminum foil unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

I would go to a cheaper salon and let someone do it for you. At least that way, you know that your hair isn't going to turn some weird color of the highlights aren't going to look messy and awful. It would probably end up being cheaper in the long run.

How do you get blonde highlights without going to a hairdresser?

Does anyone know h9ow to make my hair have blonde highlights like this:http://www.scottsdalehair.com/hairphotos鈥?/a> without going to a hairdresser? my hair is like this: http://fashionista.com/images/michelle%2鈥?/a> (only straight)

thanks! How do you get blonde highlights without going to a hairdresser?
What I have done to get blonde highlights is this

    You Need:

    Lemon Juice

    Your Shampoo

    A Shower

    A chair

    Sun

    A mag

Go into the shower and wet your hair. Shampoo it free of all dirt. Wash out. Now, comb your hair and put the (Already squirted) Lemon Juice where you want your highlights. Then, go outside and sit in the sun for 1-2 hrs, reading a mag. Then come back in after that time and wash out your hair again. Then you have blonde highlights! How do you get blonde highlights without going to a hairdresser?
Well if you dont want to go to a hair salon and do it then you can go to a beeauty supply store and get a HAIR BLEACCHING KIT %26amp;| buy the color that you want (a hair dye]. Then when you get home the directions are on the box and follw it from there. Then when you do that your hair will turn a whitish color like http://xavierziemba.com/blog/wp-content/鈥?/a> or maybe like http://www.pg.com/science/haircare/hair_鈥?/a> then after you bleachedd your hair %26amp;| it turns that color you have to then dye your hair (The parts you bleached] with the dye that your brought. But I would REALLY RECCOMEND to go to a salon because home bleaching can really wreck your hair and damage it but if you go to a salon they know what there doing and they will do it the way they were trained to do it.

  • What base color looks best with platinum blonde highlights?

My stylist says all over platinum blonde would look bad, because it would make me look even ';paler.'; But to me only pale skinned people can pull platinum off. People with tans look gross with it?

Anyways...I have a medium-dark reddish brown right now, and it's lovely, but I want a change.

She suggested putting platinum blonde highlights in....but to me it looks like a skunk, even if my hair isnt black. I'm just not fond it really?

So she suggested dark ash blonde and platinum highlights?

I think platinum highlights only look good with hair that is already a fairly light blonde.

    Otherwise it can look tacky.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a base color that they think might look good?

Ok I might not actually even do this blonde highlights thing even, I'm still thinking about it and any input would help.

I know a lot of people dont like platinum blonde, which is fine. I just want to try it out for a change.

Thanks! What base color looks best with platinum blonde highlights?
i totally agree with you; i dont know what your stylist is smoking. unless youre hair is already blond, i would stay away from platinum because it can look so unnatural. if you want a big change, id go darkish/dirty blond with normal blond highlights. What base color looks best with platinum blonde highlights?
well in my case if you would like too u should weave your hair with platinum blonde, dirty blonde, and a dark hint of brown.

i tryed it on me before and it makes you look very pretty and have a decent look with a edge to it.

    i hope i helped!

    :]]
you know rhianna the singer? her colour, maybe a little bit lighter + blond highlights makes a beautiful combination
bleached platinum hair does not look good with pale skin,it will make you look washed out. I think you should go to a different hair stylist because what she is suggesting is in bad taste. You have brown hair, why in the world would you want platinum high lights? That will give you a skunk look. I think you should leave your hair color the way it is,if you want high lights, get them only two shades lighter then your base color, it will look more natural. Just my opinion. Good luck in whatever you choose.

  • Does anyone know how to make blonde highlights brighter? Can it be done with heat from a blow-dryer?

I don't know about a blow dryer, but there is a pomade product that makes hair very shiney and highlights stand out...go on ebay, and purchase ';GREEN WITH ENVY';. It is a great product!Does anyone know how to make blonde highlights brighter? Can it be done with heat from a blow-dryer?
The blow dryer will not make your HL's brighter but there is a shampoo and conditioner by ARTECH you can get at some salons and beauty supplies. It is called White Violet shampoo and conditioner and the way it works is it is tinted purple so it tones the HL by cancelling out any brassy tones. It will not turn your blonde purple nor the rest of your hair, just make it that pretty blonde you are looking for. It runs around 10 per bottle and will last you as long as your regular shampoo. To get the full effect i would try both products. Also a toner from your local salon is another solution to cancel out the unwanted hues. Good luck.Does anyone know how to make blonde highlights brighter? Can it be done with heat from a blow-dryer?

I would suggest asking a hair salon. They know the best type of coloring to use on your individual hair color. The box stuff is designed to work for all color with high chemical content, so your outcome may not be what you want.

How to remove brassy tones in blonde highlights?

I had my hair highlighted 2 weeks ago. I'm asian and I have black hair. I had auburn lowlights, carmel highlights, then went back to salon to add dark golden blonde highlights(no charge for blonde hi-lites). I was surprised on how much blonde she put in my hair, so i went to a different salon to get lowlights (dark brown) weaved into blonde hi-lights. It looked great! But the blonde hi-lights are starting to look brassy. My husband likes it the way it is but i dont want to put anymore lowlights . Is there any hair product that could tone down /remove the brassiness? How to remove brassy tones in blonde highlights?
yes there is s a product i think it is called shimmering lights ,im not sure.its dark purple shampoo.there are other makes of this kind of product.call a hair salon they will know about the shampoo.i had really bright blonde highlights and this shampoo helped me after a few washes.because its dark purple it is specifically for taking the brassiness out of hair. good luck. How to remove brassy tones in blonde highlights?
    MOP Glisten shampoo %26amp; conditioner.

    ( modern organic products)
Hiya, well the best and cheapest thing i recommend is getting a product called color fresh, its made by wella, and go for an ash tone it will instantly take away the brassiness, it is just a rinse so it wont do any damage to your hair, good luck and hope you like it as much as i do, iv been using it on clients for years who have had the same problem

If you have any questions etc about the product mail me and ill help you out as much as i can
yes, there's this product i use by pantene pro-v and it works great! its called blonde expressions sating finishing creme.
u might have to go to a hairdressers to get them out
the brassiness is being caused by product build up that sits on top of your hair. If you use a clarifying shampoo once a week that should strip all of that build up off and leave your highlights shiny. try a shampoo bar from lush called seanick, it uses sea salt and citrus oils to clean your hair but as it uses no chemicals it won't strip the colour from your hair.

How to remove blonde highlights to get back to natural brown hair?

My friend had this problem, i say friend = /!! She went to the hairdressers and they died over it with a natural brown but the blonde still showed through because its really overpowering. You could see the blonde through for about 8 months and she had it died lots of times brown within that 8 months.!!How to remove blonde highlights to get back to natural brown hair?
When I do that, I just get whatever color I can find that's closest to my natural color and dye it all back to one color or else I go to my hairdresser and ask her to do it for me so she can match colors, even though that costs more. How to remove blonde highlights to get back to natural brown hair?
A hairdresser friend recommends dyeing your highlights red first, then going to a color more like your natural color on top of it.

Can I put a darker semi permanent colour on blonde highlighted hair?

My hair is naturally dark blonde/light brown but it is quite blonde from highlights. My roots are starting to show through quite alot and I don't want to continue highlighting my hair because it's dry already. I am wondering if I could achieve a colour similar to my natural colour with a semi permanent hair dye at home? Thanks xCan I put a darker semi permanent colour on blonde highlighted hair?
Yes just make sure not to choose one with blue hues or your hair could possibly turn greenish. red hues would look great. Can I put a darker semi permanent colour on blonde highlighted hair?
If your highlights are very light I wouldnt put anything dark on them. Even though our natural hair color will remain ok the highlights are going to turn whatever the base color of the semi permanent color are (usually when it is a brown it is going to get very ashy or green). Also even though it says semi permanent it is not going to wash out of the highlights. Your best bet is to go to a salon and have them tint it back to your natural color by using a filler first and then coloring it to ur desired level. Hope this helps!
    yes
well you could but depending on the color, it proberly wont turn out the way you want it. Especially if there are any redish tones in the colour it could go orange. Best thing to do is go to a hairdresser they may be able to use different types of die suited to doing this, but it may also take one or more tries of doing it to get the result you want.

  • Can i put blonde highlights over my hair which currently had semi-permanant colour on it?

my hair is currently dyed with a semi-permanent darkish brown.

the brown has started to fade/wash out a bit but it is still there.

i really want to put some blonde highlights in. will they come out ok even over the semi-permanent colour. or do i have to wait until the semi-permanent has completely washed out.Can i put blonde highlights over my hair which currently had semi-permanant colour on it?
you can put the highlights over any kind of hair dye. the new stuff will just go over the old stuff. Can i put blonde highlights over my hair which currently had semi-permanant colour on it?
I always do. I dye my hair with a semi-permanent color in the fall/winter and then I get highlights in the spring/summer. It always turns out really well.

Is there a way to get rid of my blonde highlights besides cutting them off?

My hair used to be highlighted, and I had it dyed to cover up the highlights. Well, now the dye has washed out and the highlights are still there (this is almost a year after I originally had my hair highlighted).

The bottom half of my hair is ugly blonde and dry looking from the highlights. Is there any way to get rid of the highlights besides cutting them. I'll cut them off if I have to, but there's a lot to cut... my hair's going to be a lot shorter. Is there a way to get rid of my blonde highlights besides cutting them off?
Unfortunately sweetheart, the only way to bring bleached hair back to its natural state is by cutting it off and letting it grow. No matter how much hair color you put over it, that is only a temporary solution (Unless you're willing to be on top of it coloring it every 2-3 weeks...) This happens because the natural pigment is stripped off during the bleaching process and it leaves the strands with a fishnet type of porosity, when you add hair Color (Temporary or permanent) it will wash off eventually for the same reason...

So for now if you don't want to cut it, just keep refreshing it with hair color until it is long enough for you to cut.

Hope this helps. Is there a way to get rid of my blonde highlights besides cutting them off?
Yep I do it all the time. I'm not sure of your original hair color but I usually dye my highlights a dark brown or black. The darker colors will fade eventually so they are not as dark but will stick to the bleach. Light colors will slide off of it in no time. Make sure that the color is a permanant color too!
bleach your hair and then dye it the color you want it and then it also takes time. Instead of a semi permanent hair dye get a permanent.

Is it possible to get blonde highlights in red hair?

I really want to get some blonde highlights in my dyed red hair but when i went to a salon they were really reluctant and said it wouldnt be possible. Was it just the salon or is it really not possible because my hair is red? I know it would have to be bleached but thats fine with me.Is it possible to get blonde highlights in red hair?
the best way to get the perfect highlight is to bleach the dye the strands but be wary of how you look after your hair afterwards because the ghair will become brittley and snap off it your not carful try to after you've beched it to do a deep condioning with mayo( i know sounda bit disgusting, but trust me it's good) or you can you use yogurt which is super good and make your hair soft then dye it

i talk to much, i know

good luckIs it possible to get blonde highlights in red hair?
I dye my hair a really vibrant red. And i used to have white blonde highlights. Depending on if you used salon color in at home is going to make a difference in how easy it is. You can always achieve a lighter color with bleach, however it might take a few times of foiling to make it to the color you want. If your hair is in a good condition they could probably do it right after the first time. They should be able to tone it once it gets up to where you want it. And If your hair doesn't feel healthy afterwards ask about a conditioning treatment. Your hair will feel fabulous! Hope i helped!!
Did they do a strand test for you?

I have (faded) red hair at the moment, and I'm going completely blond. The strand test came back slightly pinky, but until then I'm using cheap shampoo to get the last of the colour out.

I would assume it's because they wouldn't be able to get it to blonde, it'd be really pink..

Some salons also don't like mixing colours, my friend wanted black and red highlights in her light brown hair and they refused to do the black because it didn't match..

But it's most likely because it won't look good/ what you're expecting.

    Hope I helped :)
Yes it is possible but it depend on what kind of color they will be make sure they are a nice color here click on this link and check out the pic its a pic of red hair with blond highlights : MY MOM HAS BLOND HIGHLIGHTS ON HER RED HAIR HER HAIR IS WAVY LOL HERE IS THE LINK : http://teamsugar.com/files/images/hair.j鈥?/a>

Yes it is possible, I have red hair with blonde highlights and some salons refused to do it because i needed to use bleach and my hair would not be in good condition, so i had to look around to find a salon willing to do it for me.
My g/f is a true red head and got blonde highlights in her hair. Maybe its because you already have it dyed red that prevents them from adding the blonde.
i think it would go ginger, and i dont think it would really look nice, maybe wait until you go to your normal hair colour again :)
i've got vibrant red hair and i put blonde in it (bleached it out)

    and it looks awesome
    yes, and I LOVE it

Opinion on whether it is OK for a male professional to add blonde highlights/frost his hair?

I'm a 42 year old physician (surgeon) and I have really wanted to add bold blonde highlights/frost my medium brown hair for about 25 years now. I figure since I STILL HAVE my hair (with very little gray), contemplating this topic in another 10 years may not be an option. The question I have is whether it would be considered unprofessional (as a licensed, practicing physician) if I were to proceed with this? In other words, if you were a patient and you noticed your doctor added blonde highlights to his hair, would this affect your opinion of him?

I don't know whether this info is useful or not, but I have a medium white complexion (and tan pretty regularly), green/hazel eyes, dark brown/black eyebrows and an muscular build... Not really sure whether this is the right forum to post this question, but any replies would be very much appreciated.Opinion on whether it is OK for a male professional to add blonde highlights/frost his hair?
I don 't see why it would hurt.

I would stay way from the pinks and purples thought.Opinion on whether it is OK for a male professional to add blonde highlights/frost his hair?
I'd say if you consult with and use a skilled stylist (and communicate to them very clearly what you want) you should be able to get highlights subtle enough to still be professional but also ones that would give you the look you're going for. Subtlety is the key!!
If it's well done I see no reason why not (apart from the fact that colour treatments aren't great for your hair). If it's badly done it could be very bad news: think about how you judge guys you see who have bad hair colour treatments (and be honest with yourself). In your role you need to be credible when you talk to patients and anything which makes them feel less confident about dealing with you could have knock on consequences you might rather avoid. I guess the trick is to find a decent stylist who you trust and maybe to start gently at first.
I personally wouldnt have a problem with it - i mean, as a physician you must see people with all types of hair styles, and many of them may be in highly professional jobs - I say you should go for it!

It's not as if it wont grow out anyway, if anyone has a problem with it....
When you were 17..not a bad idea

When you were 30 ..a little strange, but still ok

When you became a physician ,and now at the age of 42..absolutely not
    I say go for it.

You only live once and I think most people are savvy enough to realise that dying your hair does not diminish your professional capability.

    Have fun dude!
No ur a bit to old for that
Go for it doc! Patients want to see their doctors polished, trendy and well-groomed. Goodluck! You're still young, so yes, go for it now.
Does mutton dressed as lamb mean any thing !
Depends If your Hot or not.

I dont Mean to sound shallow.

But thats just whether It'll suit you or not,

Blonde highlights wouldnt knock me at all.

    Its not like,

OMG MY SURGEON HAS BLOND HIGHLIGHTS HES SO UNPROFFESIONAL HES GONNA RIP OUT MY SPLEEN.

    Yeh.
Be honest with yourself about your professional demeanor and patient base....

Are you quiet, reserved, ultra-professional or a bit more laid back and ';hip';?

Are you patients a mix of folks, or do you primarily see elderly folks throughout the day?

I wouldn't mind blonde highlights on my doctor, but I'm 36 and I work as a makeup artist for a very funky company. My mother might raise an eyebrow. My grandmother would assume you were gay. ;)
no man.. its digusting. especially if youre a doctor.
I'd say get it done you might look more human with a little style instead of looking so serious
to be professional, i would stick with 1 solid natural color. maybe on vacation you can you can change your appearance.

What colour will Dark Golden Blonde highlights fade into?

Okay so, i just recently got Dark Golden Blonde Streaks on my Black hair, and im just wonderin, when it fades, will it be Light Blonde or Darker Blonde? What colour will Dark Golden Blonde highlights fade into?
it will go a caramel colour...will still look cool in your dark hair

peace@love=0)What colour will Dark Golden Blonde highlights fade into?
It will most likely go an auburn/orangey colour (blonde hair has a tendacy to turn ';brassy'; without special blonde toning shampoos/products) or it will not change at all.

Bleached hair doesn't really 'fade'.. it will take on other colours, or you will just have to wait for it to grow out.

I have brown hair with blonde highlights and I want my hair natural black, can I box dye it?

My natural hair color is black.

    I don't want to spend $80 again.

If I boxed dye it natural black at home, would

the highlights be covered too?I have brown hair with blonde highlights and I want my hair natural black, can I box dye it?
Yes, you can definitely ';box dye'; your hair. There are certain things you have to be aware of...

    1. If you will do the dye yourself, you have to make sure that you are covering equally the entire hair, otherwise you will definitely end up with more than one shade of color. Or what we call, stained hair. It will be better if you can ask a friend to do it for you.

    2. Probably the first 2 times you dye your hair it will show some lighter shades in the places where you had your highlights. Not to worry! It does look good and it might even go as part of the look! As you repeatedly dye your hair, this lighter hairs will go even with the rest.

Here is a link that I hope will get you in the right track. Good Luck!!I have brown hair with blonde highlights and I want my hair natural black, can I box dye it?
I'm pretty sure the higlights would be covered, but depending on the contrast of the brown and blonde, the highlights could turn out a slightly lighter black than the brown.. But, they would still be covered.

    Hope I helped. =)
Sure would! Black dye pretty much penetrates any colour.

  • What is the best product to use at home for big chunky blonde highlights on top.?

I've been dying my hair for a long time but ive never done highlights. What product would be the best for big chunky highlights only on the top layer of my hairWhat is the best product to use at home for big chunky blonde highlights on top.?
i would suggest the powder bleach from sally's beauty supplies. when mixed, it turns into a paste and i find is much easier to apply yourself than regular highlighting kits. the brush i use for this resembles a mascara brush. good luck! What is the best product to use at home for big chunky blonde highlights on top.?
Fortunately, there's no special product needed. You can go to Sally or whatever beauty supply store you have in your area and pick up a little paint brush looking thing. Sorry, I don't know what it's called, but if you tell the person in the store that you want a brush for highlighting, she can point you in the right direction. Anyway, buy any dye you like and mix it up in a bowl. Use the brush to apply the hightlights where you want them. You can control how thick or thin the highlights are.
LISTEN TO ME! DO NOT DO THIS!!! make sure you get highlights done professionally because my friend did blonde highlights by herself and it came out horrible and turned orange in 2 days!!
over the counter highlight kit you can buy them anywhere

Can my hairdresser remove the blonde highlights in my hair?

I have dark brown hair and have permanent blonde highlights in it. Is it possible for my hairdresser to take out those highlights? I want to dye my hair a different color...Can my hairdresser remove the blonde highlights in my hair?
You can have ur hair dresser either go over them with a color that is a shade darker than ur hair color now be sure to leave that color on for only about 20 mins or when u dye ur hair do the highlights last and only leave the color on for about 15 mins in the same color ur going to dye the rest of ur hair. I have done both of those and they work well. Can my hairdresser remove the blonde highlights in my hair?
She can strip your hair of that colour, but stripping it is bad for your hair..If your really unsure, ask your hair stylist..
it's not impossible, but they can try to take out as much as possible.. it may leave some faded colour though but you can't get rid of it completely if it's permanent

Brunette with blond highlights, sound cute! But what color to wear to show them off. I suggest a pink, purple,or very light tan for your eyes. Buying a shimmering eyeshadow will make your face pop out even more. A bright pink, cotton candy colored lip-gloss would look absolutely devine!

no its style now deeps are dark don't you know that?
You could try shampoos that are designed to add color to hair (generally recommended for people after they've had their hair colored red, brown, black). Or you could just try doing a normal bottle job with basic hair coloring products from the grocery store. Otherwise, let it grow out or maintain it. :)
Yeah, go get L'Oreal (not the cream one) and try to match your original color as close as possible. Follow the directions and you should be all good tomorrow for about $9.99 (or so)
i have dark hair naturally and i had a blonde highlight right in front for a while, i just dyed my hair and it pretty much went away, it got a little lighter as it began to wash out a little but never really became noticable, just a subtle highlight, sometime later i dyed my hair again and now its never returned and it matches the rest of my hair.
Professally get those highlights recolored they'll know what to do.
CHEAP, YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR , I THINK I WOULD SHELL OUT MORE CASH AND LET IT LOOK MORE NATURAL THAN TAKE ADVICE FROM THE POLL
If it permanent...your going to have to redye your hair. In the meantime though...keep washing it. Over-wash it even. It will start to fade out. But, as soon as you get the chance..pick up a bottle of hair dye.
Use a filler in your hair, and then dye it. There might be some mild highlighting effects, but natural hair has highlights anyways, so they shouldn't be too obvious.

Should i make honey blonde highlights in my light brown hair?

Temporary highlights, do they work and do they get off?Should i make honey blonde highlights in my light brown hair?
Yes, they do fade with shampoos, and stay away from ashy colors. Honey blond or beige blond are your best choices. Temporary color is actually brighter than permanent color, I always get temporary color for my highlights and it looks much more vivid and stays for about 6-8 weeks. Just be sure you are not buying a frosting kit, since that would look bad.Should i make honey blonde highlights in my light brown hair?
im gna get the same think but im gna bye my hair honey blonde n they get blonde highlights Report Abuse

    Yea,that would look cuute!

    hmm,i dunno,i never get temporary :\
Why not give it a try
some temporary highlights dont wash out...the ones that do look bad...get it professionally done i think it will look nice
    lol you might
Temporary highlights? Once you lighten your hair (by removing the color) It doesn't go back to darker. I would try caramel highlights.
temporary highlights usually stay in your hair about 3-4 months. honey blonde sounds good, but a caramel blonde may be more subtle-if that's what you're looking for.
you will end up looking like a pale skunk

Would teal streaks look good with light brown hair and blonde highlights?

I am a brunette with natural highlights and my friend and I were talking yesterday about getting our hair dyed over the summer. I was thinking teal streaks and she was thinking aqua. Would there be a better color? And is it really hard to take care of? I just want to know.Would teal streaks look good with light brown hair and blonde highlights?
OMG!! i have brown hair too and i though teal would look awesome too.... the only thing is, to get ur hair any shade of blue u first have to bleach it... and blue runs really bad and it fades quick so u have to get it re-done every week... thats why im looking for a new color now..... =[Would teal streaks look good with light brown hair and blonde highlights?
If you dont mind getting rid of those nautiraul highlights, you can just dye over them in the teal. It would be MUCH easier. But hey, whatever you want to do.

If you DO NOT want to cover your blonde highlights, to going to have to first bleach more highlights into your hair, then cover those highlights with a aqua dye. Aqua is such a rpetty color, so go for it. If you dont have expeirence is highlighting/dying hair, go to a proffesionaly because highlights and be quite tricky.

Semipermant can be a bit tricky to do because it fades and you have to retouch it every month or so. Permanant is much of a hassle, dying the roots is just quite annoying. Other than that, theres not much other hardships.

There are many different ways to do it, so whichever sound best for you and your friend, go for it :D
I've never dyed my hair, but it would probs look cute if you could pull it off. It depends on what u look like... but I say go for it, you would look like Aquamarine.
yea I think that would be really cute! I also think hot pink is uber awesome! I had pink last summer and loved it! =)
no, i like the teal!! i looove teal streaks on ppl. it looks rly pretty!! do it!

same here! everything about us is almost the same! well, with the highlights, i would go with tresseme shampoo. it has vitamins and it goes easy on the highlights! good luckWhat kind of shampoo is best for brown hair, with blonde highlights?
An specific one for colored hair
are the hi-lights pulling a color from the water...this is a common cause...clairol has a shampoo that can help brighten the hi-lights......shimmer lights.....buy the smallest available bottle as you can use it as less as every two wks
Any shampoo not containing any dyes (like violet/red) is fine they are only highlights. If the rest of your hair is colored than I would use a color protecting/preserving shampoo %26amp; conditioner. Pureology is wonderful, Redken is good and I am sure if you dont want to spend the $$ you could even find a product at your grocery store.

As for colors that go well with your hair %26amp; eyes also depends on your skin tone. Any gray , blue green, or just green may bring out your eye color. You may also want to look into a nice eye shadow that shows them off as well.
The other people have given good answers to the shampoo part. I have dark hair with hilights and hazel eyes and I like to were warm colors like browns and golds. Green, dark blue, and black and white are usually good too!

How do i permanentely cover my blonde highlights against my naturally black hair?

i highlighted my hair blonde 14 months ago. ive had to dye over it 3 times so far to cover the blonde highlights, but they keep coming through eventually. what can i do to cover them completely? How do i permanentely cover my blonde highlights against my naturally black hair?
the permanent black dye is the answer. go to a beauty supply house and get clairol in teh black velvet color i think its number 50. they can inform you how to mix with developer but use a 10 volume. after you do that the blonde may pop through . if it does you should use a semi permanent black color as often as needed until it grws ot.How do i permanentely cover my blonde highlights against my naturally black hair?
    go to the salon.

sounds like the blond is over processed which is why it won't hold the color.

they are going to have to use a filler or stain your hair in order for the blond to hold the color.

professional hair color is much better than store bought brands. all of these at home color jobs are damaging your hair and going over and over and over the same color is not helping obviously, so let the pros handle it.

besides, a stylist can use exactly what your hair needs, box color can't tell you that.
you just have to keep coloring over it until it grows out enough to cut it off. because you bleached the color out of your hair to get it blonde it doesn't have any pigment left which is why it keeps fading back blonde.
why would you want to cover them completely. Blonde highlights are beautiful especially as we approach the nice weather. It will lighten up your face too!! Only a suggestion.

    Sun-In

is an amazing product...i used to use it all the time

and i would be bleach blonde...

and when you just want some natural looking streaks it works like that too...

i used it until my eyebrows got dark and i hated that my hair was light

and my eyebrows dark so i dyed my hair

    hope it works

IT DID FOR ME!!!!!!!I have light brown hair with blonde highlights, I want to go lighter but without bleach or peroxide?
All boxed hair lighteners have bleach in them with peroxide as the activator. You can try fresh cut lemons with the sun...that will lighten your hair. Sun-in is a bleach/peroxide product.
Don't ever use Bleach, bleach has Clorox in it. That stuff is for clothes and cleaning hospitals. Don't ever use peroxide either, it will make all of you're hair frizz up and break off. Go to a CVS or any store even Ralphs, you can buy a hair dying kit. Look for the color you want, and READ ALL instructions. It's simple and cheap, don't do it too many times or you'll have split ends all over and you can forget about growing your hair because you'll keep having to cut the ends off.
There is no way to pull color from your hair with out peroxide, peroxide is used to activate the hair tint. It lifts your hair cuticle and allows the tint to penetrate the hair shaft removing the color. If your hair is too dark bleach is used instead, then a toner is used to put a light color back into the bleached parts. Loreal hair products all have peroxide or they won't work.

I would really suggest that you stay with blonde highlights. If you should use products like ';sun in';, you may be very disappointed with the results. You can never be sure if it will pull enough color from your hair, leaving your hair gold, orange or dark yellow. If it is not applied evenly you could end up with dark and light spots of differing colors. Also keep in mind when you apply such a product it lightens all of your hair. So with in a very short time (2-4) weeks you will have a regrowth. Where you will have a obvious line between the hair that was lightened and your natural hair color. Then if you try again with the ';Sun in'; there will be no way to control the lift and you will still have a different color regrowth. Then you will have to find a good hair colorist to correct a big mess. This is called corrective work, because it takes so much longer and so many more steps are used , you will pay a lot.

My suggestion is to have a professional re-highlight your hair, maybe using 2-3 colors. It will be beautiful and shiny and you won't have the drama that doing this at home with either the grocery store tint or sun in and the damage they will cause.

  • I have this wavy dark brown hair so how do I get bleached blonde highlights and straight hair?

My friend has this really pretty hair that's blackish but it has highlights that are blond because she bleached her hair. It's kinda like an asian hairstyle, so it looks good on her, but only because she has straight hair. I can get my hair bleached into highlights easily but how do I get straight hair? And do I make it straight first or highlights first?I have this wavy dark brown hair so how do I get bleached blonde highlights and straight hair?
to get super straight hair you need a straighting iron found anywhere, search more on it and you can find better brands. Make highlights first because if you straighten it and then bleach it, its gonna get wet therefore the iron has no effect on it.(when ur hair is straight and gets wet it goes back to the way it was curly, wavy etc..)I have this wavy dark brown hair so how do I get bleached blonde highlights and straight hair?
    Hi Kandy,

You can do the highlights first on your wavy hair. Either go see a professional colorist for the highlights or you can try a highlighting kit from the store. Be cautious though, with your dark hair the highlights might come out an orange color.

    xoxo,

    miss blondissima!
You can do it the hard way like me and straighten yoru hair with a straightener or you can get it permed straight. Since I'm not a professional, I would ask the hair dresser next time you go to see which you should get first of the perm and the highlights.

My hair is just all blonde highlights. Is it possible to dye it one shade of blonde?

I'm tired of going to the salon once or twice a month and sitting there for hours to get my highlights touched up.. it is expensive and takes forever! My highlights are all just different shades of blonde and none of them are very thick. How would my hair dresser go about doing this? Thank you!!! I appreciate all the help/advise I can get!My hair is just all blonde highlights. Is it possible to dye it one shade of blonde?
You can buy highlights that make your hair a different kind of blond in stores like wal-mart and pharmacys. It's fast and easy to do, and not expensive!

Can I get blonde highlights over light brown henna dyed hair?

I was really stupid and dyed my light blonde hair dark brown, Now i want it back to blonde. I got some highlights about to months ago and then did a blonde henna dye over the top which made the dark colours slightly lighter and the light darker, now ive just done another wash and its chestnut brown, I want to get more blonde highlights in about 2 weeks time, would it work? Can I get blonde highlights over light brown henna dyed hair?
henna dye has to come out on its own, its just like when you dye your hair with koolaid for a red effect, you have to let it come out on its own, but my friend got a special shampoo the get it out faster, i think you can find it online for cheap and i think the blonde highlights dont help cuz they're not your real color and you'll eventually have to get them out as well. Can I get blonde highlights over light brown henna dyed hair?
HENNA is NOT compatible with conventional coloring. Sometimes what is called 'Henna' is a blend of 'Neutral' Henna (Stems and Root) with natural coloring agents (Chamomile, Marigold, Coneflower, Indigo) and / or dyes (FD%26amp;C Yellow, FD%26amp;C BLUE, Acid Violet) this is touted as a ';Natural Alternative'; to Artificial Hair Dyes but, the evidence is that Henna and other 'Natural' coloring agents can cause allergic reactions and skin/scalp irritations as well. The Henna contains a combination of ingredients that slightly penetrate and stain the cuticle of the hair as well as COATING it to make the hair look thicker, smoother and shiny. This coating is not easily removed by shampooing. It makes the hair resistant to Perm and Color chemicals so they may 'Take' VERY UNEVENLY or not at all. And some brands of Henna contain METAL SALTS (Mercury, Lead, Silver, Copper, Iron Etc.) to give a longer lasting color effect that REACT VERY BADLY with conventional Color and Perm Solutions causing severe hair damage and breakage. NEVER PERM, COLOR Or BLEACH Hair that has been treated with Henna - See a professional and bring the container of Henna you have used so they know how to properly treat your hair.

    Hope This Helps.

    Good-Luck!!
You CANNOT dye, bleach, or perm or other wise chemically process hair that has henna on/in it.

I'm not sure if you would be able to use lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, or citric acid to acheive highlights or strip the henna out of your hair.

Here is a link of beauticians that understand henna and may be able to help. If you go to any hairdresser: they may not understand henna.
I would suggest you go to a professional and have them test your hair to see if you can put highlights in. Henna doesn't react well with other chemicals and stays in your hair for a long time even after the color of it fades. If you get highlights be sure to tell the person you used Henna on it or you may end up without any hair at all.
first of all,the henna will have to be removed by a professional ..go to a beauty school if money is an issue..
it says on home dye packets not to use on henna dyed hair, ring uo a hair dresser they will advise you
