How long should I leave peroxide bleach in my hair to obtain platinum blonde highlights?

Have tried the professionals and even they sometimes don't get it 'right'......hightlights are either grey or white. Incidentally, the natural colour of my hair is medium brown. How long should I leave peroxide bleach in my hair to obtain platinum blonde highlights?
depends on how fast your hair lifts. If it's your natural to start with then apply and wrap in a plastic bag......put your hair dryer to it for about five mins on hot to help it lift quicker. Leave for about 25 mins then check.....clean a strand off and check colour and texture.....if still yellow..mix up fresh bleach and apply..leave no longer than 10 mins and check again......if pale yellow and still elastic then heat once more for a further 5 mins......MAKE Sure before this step that hair is elastic still..ie does not snap off when pulled....if it goes white after the last stage...buy a a platinum blonde toner...or.....get a tube of platinum blonde colour.....use one quarter and squeeze into a squeezy bottle...a clean liquid bottle will do...add 45 mls of warm water and shake till dissolved.....squeeze over hair and leave for 5 mins..rinse clear and blow dry to check colour.

Failing that...you can buy a platinum blonde tint these days that wil lift your hair to the required colour...ask for wella's arctic range and get them to use 12% peroxide...you'll get the colour without causing so much damage. How long should I leave peroxide bleach in my hair to obtain platinum blonde highlights?
it depends on the color of your hair, but you cannot always achieve platinum blonde you have to work in stages, and keep going lighter. but if u still want to try just leave it in until you see the color you want to achieve and after 40 min if it is not what you want i dont think its going to do much more
grey or white is pretty much platinum blonde.

Peroxide won't bleach your hair..you have to get it with different concentrations than a drugstore peroxide. The most it will do is bleach your hair to an orange..if that.
YOU HAVE TO PAY BIG FOR THE BEST RESULTS GO TO A HIGH END STYLIST IT WILL BE WORTH IT
For such a big colour job, I would really recommend you invest in a good hairdressers. Bleaching hair is a very dangerous process if not careful your hair could end up on the floor. Bleaching hair has to be done in stages as there are different stages of lift, it depends on what pigments you have in yor own hair, on how light you can achieve. You should not leave bleach on your hair for more than 50 mins. Bleach breaks down the outer layers of the hair and if left on too long, can disintegrate the hair. If you make a mistake using bleach it is very hard to rectify, tints will not grip too well to cover over it. You should go to a reputable hairdresser, take pictures in and explain how you want your hair colour to be and a good hairdresser will be able to explain whether its achieveable. Another thing to consider is the overall condition of your hair, it will feel extremely dry, you will have roots every 4-6 weeks, so theres alot of upkeep and cost of going to the salon, and you must be careful in the sun and if you go swimming as yor hair can go green. Best thing for you to do, go for a consultation its free and will give you the best ideas and options

hope this helps

Hi Ya

Bleach powder mixed with peroide should not be left on anyone's hair more than 60mins as the bleach will start to dissolve the hair. What ever colour it is then will be the best result. After the bleaching process you or as near as possible. As the hair will have no colour in the centre what ever toner you choose will grab the hair for instance golden blonde will be just that golden blonde. However without a colour toner it will look grey or white which by the way is platinum.

Hope this helps.
Hi i had this problem last year and my hair was reddish brown to start with. I used bleach and it went kinda ginger(which was obviously going to happen!). I then tried to get it lighter by bleaching again. It didn't work. I waited 6 weeks till i done my roots and it all went really light blonde. I now have problems every 6weeks when i dye my hair. I have to use a toner that washes in and out everytime i wash my hair. I think it looks cheap and you can tell it's a home job! I'm just about to dye it browny blonde. Don't do it cos it's too much maintenence. If you go to a hairdressers then you'll have to go back there everytime you get roots. My hair is also medium brown. Stay brown blonde and it will be easier to lighten and darken a couple of shades
when highlighting hubby's hair which is dirty dk blond to white used russell jeromes kit make sure 40% peroxide and after bleaching put on ash wash - like the old ladies setting lotion to take out any yellow residue - worked well for hubby but was slightly lighter than you - see no reason why it wont work - remember if you swin in chlorine pool it will turn your hair green - if you make this mistake use ketchup - know it sounds silly but chemicals in it reactive with bleach etc. hope this helps.
