I have naturally Dark brown/black hair and i want to highlight it blonde. I was planning to get it done at a moderately expensive salon but i was still wondering if it would turn my hair orange? If i highlight my dark hair blonde will it turn orange?
I would suggest going for a heavy hi light first.Going from dark to all over blonde is very drastic. The lightening process just depends on the level of peroxide the stylist use and the timing. If your hair is very dark then it will probably not lift up to platinum, but whatever shade it does lift up to,the stylist can use a toner afterward to eliminate any orange or yellow in the hair.Best advice is to take a picture of the color blonde you are going for to show what you want.If i highlight my dark hair blonde will it turn orange?
Your hair must go through an orange stage before it gets to blonde. If your hair is dark brown/black...then your hair has to lift 12 stages before it gets to that light color. If the process is ended before all the stages of lightening have been gone through then yes, your hair will be orange.
The thing is that bleach must be used to lift the color that far so if you do go that light, keep in mind the damage caused to your hair and condition accordingly!
Good idea to go to a good salon where lots of stylist experience will help to prevent your hair turning orange.
PS - I really like Dumbe Blonde Conditioner by Bedhead to use on highlighted hair. It will help replace the lost moisture.
My hair is like your hair colour. And i got blonde streaks in it too, and my hair was blonde, not orange. It depends on the product and how well it works, and who does it and how they do it. Such as their techniques, leaving the hair dye in for too long might make the blonde shade lighter even. But check your salon, and tell them all your specific details, they can't go wrong.
MOST LIKELY IT WILL, BECAUSE THE UNDERLYING PIGMENT IN DARK HAIR IS RED. BUT A PROFESSIONAL SHOULD KNOW HOW TO COUNTER BALANCE THE RESULT.IT ALSO DEPENDS ON THE VOLUME OF DEVELOPER THEY USE AND IF THE LIGHTENER HAS A BLUE BASE. AND THE LENGTH OF TIME THE PRODUCT IS LEFT ON. I ALWAYS RECOMMEND GOING TO A PROFESSIONAL, AND IF YOU LIKE THEY CAN DO A TEST PATCH. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE HONEST AND LET THEM KNOW IF YOU HAVE HAIR COLOR ON UR HAIR, AND WHEN IT WAS DONE SO THEY CAN TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS. HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL!!!
well it shouldnt!!!! wen one of my friends got blonde highlights they looked great!!!...not orange. i think u should just ask the salon hair person to give u some advice on wat not to do the 1st few weeks!!!!.oh and dont get them to blonde cuz then it mite look lik u hav gray hairs!!!
It wont if you get it done profesionally. At the salon they usually use a color stripper if you hair is really dark and than the hair color.
it will look like a skunk
