How can I dye only the blonde highlighted part of my hair, but leave the dark areas unchanged?

I naturally have medium-dark brown hair, but have been getting partial blonde highlights for years. I want to go back to my original color by only darkening the blonde areas and not altering the darker natural brown parts. Is this possible? Or are there any dyes that will only affect the light parts?How can I dye only the blonde highlighted part of my hair, but leave the dark areas unchanged?
