I have black hair long hair ang want blonde highlights but I cant afford to go to a salon so I want to do it myslfHow do I get great blonde highlights on my black hair doing it myself on a budget?
I am a color specialist. There is NO way you can get black hair to the blonde stages with any product you can purchase without a cosmetology license. It will cost you a lot more to get what you do fixed than will will to get it done properly in the first place. If you are on a budget I suggest this. Find a hair school. Don't try to get blonde. Tell the student %26lt;and I suggest you ask for an instructor as well%26gt; that you want a few foiled in highlights in the top. Don't let them use bleach. Tell them you want them to use a level 5 ash base color with 30 volume developer. Only let them apply the foils in the front and crown area. No more than 15 foils. fairly large chunks of small subsections. When it is done you will have a honey brown shade blended in with your black hair and will have the same effect of blonde highlights without the EXTREME contrast %26lt;sometimes makes the blonde look like gray from a distance%26gt; Beauty school can be a very good ';cheap'; alternative to a salon. It can only turn out well if you know EXACTLY what to ask for becuase often even the instructors don't have enough color experience to understand the limits. How do I get great blonde highlights on my black hair doing it myself on a budget?
I have blk hair....I have high lighted it a few times....I prefer to pull it through a cap so I dont get any on places I dont want it....then Bleach Powder and peroxid developer......You can also use the kits in Walmart and such......You have to leave it on for close to a hour due to the darkness.....or it will be redsih
Be VERY careful....there is a good chance that your hair will turn orange or red....most at home kits are not strong enough to turn black hair to blonde and stop in the middle of the process at orange....

If you still decide to do it at home, go somewhere like Sally Beauty Supply and ask the people there what you should use...something with bleach in it, probably...

Hope it turns out how you want it....
OHHHHHHH!!!!!

Please, Please, don't mess up your lovely black hair!

If you must highlight anything? try a bluish hue. Black hair is gorgeous, I wish I had the skin color that worked with it!
Buy some hair dye at the store. Definitely do a test first--dye just a small piece of your hair (either underneath where no one can see it, or you can cut a little bit and dye that). Make sure you like the color before you do visible highlights.
hahaha, when I first read it, I thought it said back hair. Sorry, my bad.
wouldn't you just get yellowish colour if your hair is that black? Becareful. I could only suggest then that you keep bleaching the streaked capped ones until they go blonde and hopefully not before the hair falls out.
My daughter uses a bleaching kit that you can buy at the drug store. You can either use the cap that come with it, or use tin foil as they do in the hair salons (that is the method my daughter uses)
